ABOUT THIS GAMEBlue Hawaii Aniki is a self-proclaimed film director who takes a paycheckgig on a cheap late-night variety program: "Blue Hawaii Aniki's Soft OreDemand." The show has six regular segments, but only four of them air inany given episode. A B-grade host, a B-grade cast, and a B-grade broadcastthat somehow keeps going. This is a visual novel about that show, and the people who drift in andout of it. No lectures, no forced tearjerking - just a world you may findyourself wishing you lived in.STORY AND PACING- A largely linear narrative you can read straight through, with optional detours along the way.- Roughly 2-3 hours of playtime.- Approximately 26,000 Japanese characters of script.- Around 20 characters appear, centered on Blue Hawaii Aniki himself.FEATURES- Full Japanese and English text- Auto mode for hands-free reading- Skip function for text you have already seen- 4 save slots- Approximately 300 single illustrations- Approximately 200 sound assetsPRESENTATIONRather than a wall-to-wall musical score, the game is built on ambientsound and effects. Real life does not come with background music, soneither does this - the result is a quieter, more grounded kind ofimmersion. Opening and ending themes are included.A NOTE ON THE TEXTThe script has been prepared in both Japanese and English. The humor leanson the rhythms of Japanese late-night television - a genre of deliberatelycheap, low-stakes variety programming - and the English text is written tocarry that same offhand tone.CAN I START WITH VOL.4?Yes. This is part of an ongoing series, but each volume stands on its own.You do not need to have played the earlier entries to follow this one -though reading the series in order does add to the experience.
